Apartment recognized for providing affordable, energy-efficient housing.
Summit Parque, Pinnacle Development’s mixed-income apartment complex, has been awarded the National Green Building Standard (NGBS) Silver Award. Presented by The Home Innovation Research Labs, the award recognizes Summit Parque for being built with best-in-class construction practices for sustainable and eco-friendly living, as well as its rigorous design and high levels of resource efficiency and indoor environmental quality.
Designed by architect 5G Studio Collaborative and built by leading contractor of multifamily developments KWA Construction, Summit Parque’s infrastructure includes solar panels that capture and generate electricity to assist in supplying the building’s energy needs. Having broke ground during the summer of 2014, the project also served as urban infill and required a highly strategic and complex building process.
Located in Dallas near the intersection of U.S. 75 and Interstate 635, Summit Parque was designed for efficient use of a dense, 1.4-acre construction site. The 106,000-square foot project allowed no margin for inaccuracy in development. Additionally, its proximity to a major highway invoked extra caution, mandating a specific thoroughfare to enter and exit the construction site. These challenges made extensive planning and scheduling crucial to the timely completion of the five-story building.
“The construction of Summit Parque required great synergy between every party involved,” said Brian Webster, Vice President of KWA Construction. “This project is distinct not only because it was recognized with a NGBS award, but also because it provides affordable housing in a prime Dallas location.”
Completed in December 2015, the community consists of 100 units, 75 of which are reserved for families and individuals who make 60 percent or less of the median family income. The new apartments offer one-, two- and three bedroom layouts complete with granite countertops, hardwood floors and USB charging stations. The community also includes a resident entertainment room, cyber lounge, exercise facility, electric car charging stations and a children’s playground.
