Behind the Crane: Atlantica at Burleson

The Project At-A-Glance

Atlantica at Burleson is a recently completed luxury multifamily complex developed by Sovereign Properties. KWA Senior Project Manager Julian Sontag spearheaded the project, which marked KWA’s initial collaboration with the New York-based firm and represented Sovereign Properties’ first foray into the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Burleson, a suburb of Fort Worth, is renowned for its family-friendly atmosphere, top-notch schools and picturesque rolling hills scenery, making it a sought-after location for young professionals and growing families. Atlantica at Burleson boasts not only a prime location but also unique amenities, including over 550 acres of outdoor space for a one-of-a-kind living experience.

Digging Deeper with Julian Sontag: Insights on Building Atlantica at Burleson

As the team leader, Julian provided his insights on what the experience of working on Atlantica at Burleson was like, from start to finish. When asked about any challenges that the project or the team faced during the construction process, Julian highlighted how the team invests considerable effort in conducting thorough prep work and planning for each new project. This helps them anticipate and address potential setbacks and issues that may arise. Despite encountering challenges during the building process, the team was pleasantly surprised that these setbacks were minor. For Atlantica at Burleson, the challenges they faced mirrored those often encountered by the industry. These included minor setbacks arising from permit approvals, COVID-19, safety checks and supply chain issues. The project’s expected timeline remained largely unaffected by these challenges, which is a significant achievement in the industry.

Julian commented that the city of Burleson played a significant role in ensuring the construction process went smoothly. The city’s efforts to provide the construction team with easy access to major roads were highly beneficial, especially since it can often be challenging to secure such access. In terms of design, Julian noted that the building’s unique garden-style is not commonly seen in the area. The fact that the project was only three stories simplified logistics and made it an excellent fit for Burleson.

When asked about his favorite aspect of the construction process, Julian expressed his enthusiasm for cultivating relationships with clients. “As a construction professional, building relationships with clients is a top priority for me, especially when it comes to new ones like Sovereign Properties. Our team always strives to exceed expectations for all our clients, but the sense of accomplishment achieved as a team is unmatched. The special camaraderie that develops while working together is truly one-of-a-kind and makes the job even more rewarding.”
