Remembering Three Great Multifamily Pioneers

KWA is saddened by the three recent deaths of some great multifamily pioneers – Larry Barnett, Ted Schlossman and John Turner.

Larry, Ted and John were lifelong friends of KWA and loyal business partners throughout the years. Our hearts go out to their families during this time. KWA will always remember Larry, Ted and John, and the impact they each made to the prosperity of our industry.

Larry Barnett, owner of Engineered Retaining Walls, Inc., passed away on January 2, 2013. Larry was a long-time friend of KWA and a pioneer within the retaining wall business. Over the years, Larry paved the way for many others in the retaining walls sector. His most recent work included producing beautiful stone retaining walls at properties throughout North Texas.

Ted S. Schlossman, co-owner of F M & S Partners, passed away on January 20, 2013. Ted was an active member of the National Association of Home Builders and played an integral role within the multifamily housing industry as a DUS underwriter for HUD, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

John Turner, founder of Turner Forest Industries and Red River Partners, LLC, passed away January 26, 2013. John was a forty-year veteran in the multifamily industry, supplying lumber for countless projects including two current KWA properties.

Larry, Ted and John will be forever missed by their friends at KWA. We are abundantly grateful for their service and dedication to our industry. May they rest in peace.
